Shines Champ and Partnering
About This Class
The footwork pattern is hard but you think you can do it. You’ve gone over it a lot and it’s time to dance it to music. One or two more practice runs before the battle begins and the last dancer standing wins. Do you have what it takes to survive?
Our popular Shines Champ and Partnering Class is a long running dance battle to determine who gets immortalized with our custom made Shines Champion Belt. Many have tried and fallen and a few brave souls from all over Chicago have stepped up to the challenge.
Here’s how it works: We’ll go over and Int/Adv level footwork combination (shines) which will change every week to keep the dancers on their toes. The shines will incorporate various fusions of styles including, but not limited to, Pachanga, Mambo, Afro Cuban, Son and more. Once we teach it, we’ll give dancers enough time to ask questions and dance to music. Then it time. A dance battle where you’re eliminated if you mess up. Can you make it to the end and be the last dancer standing?

While we put a lot of focus on footwork patterns, we don’t neglect partnering! In order to keep things fresh, we’ll show an awesome new partner combination with precise details for the leads and follows on how to best execute and consider things like spacing, connections, tension and more! Leads and follows are given equal attention so you’ll never feel like your questions aren’t being answered.
Take advantage of working with MMA’s master instructors and gain insight from their combined 25+ years experience! A power combo of these two teachers is worth its weight in gold! We’ll see you in class!

Let’s face it, you want to get better and keep up to date with the latest movements and styles that are happening RIGHT NOW. Our dancers consistently crush it at out of town workshops and dance festivals because we push them to the max. Our Shines Champ class, along with our Thursday advanced class, will give you the tools to keep your dance skills sharp and on point.
Class day and time?
Our Shines Champ and Partnering class happens every Wednesday from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It is a drop in class so come every week or whenever you’re able!
How do you pay for class?
This class, like all drop in classes at MMA can be paid for individually or by purchasing an MMA Class Card for more savings!
What Level Should I be?
It’s best to be at an Intermediate level before you try the class. While we DO want you to be challenged, we also want you to feel confident about your dancing. Make it past our Intermediate Bootcamp and you’ll be ready for the challenge.
